I read the entire Left Behind series for two reasons: first, to get a better understanding of the kind of book that influences what I consider to be a very dangerous religious/political movement, and second, because my reading speed is too fast, and I keep running out of things to read.Oh, and also because the books were available at my local library and didn't cost anything. :DEven with my initial low expectations, the series was surprisingly awful. I'm afraid I couldn't possibly review it without venturing into territory that probably isn't appropriate for GoodReads. For example, I couldn't resist making up "porn" names for the characters, since the actual names used in the books were so close to porn names anyway. The Left Behind series is the twisted religious-political fantasy of a very sick pair. As such, it's kind of interesting - but I wouldn't recommend it unless you have a lot of tolerance for really bad writing and lots of stupidity. That so many Americans have apparently read and admired this series doesn't speak well for my countrymen...but it does explain how George W. Bush got two terms. If you've like to read my full review (including lots of mocking of the books), here's a link to my unexpurgated review in my blog.
