The Cranky Old Reader

I'm a Goodreads refugee, looking for a new home. Old books for children, science fiction, fantasy, mysteries, and humor are my main areas of interest. I've little interest in books that were written after 1975 or so, and prefer books that are older still. There are, however, a few still-living authors that I respect.

The Victorian - Act I: Self Realization

The Victorian: ACT I: Self-Realization Graphic Novel - Penny-Farthing, Lovern Kindzierski Couldn't make it to the half-way point in this confusing, apparently pointless graphic novel. I realize that carrying on multiple plot threads simultaneously is rather in vogue these days, but here it's carried on to the point of obsession; it's like sitting in front of a TV while a seriously hyperactive child plays with the remote. Was that a meaningful bit of plot? CLICK! too late.Oh, perhaps there's a complete plot point somewhere in there. But if the author didn't reach it half-way through the damned book...well, sorry, but at that point I started feeling abused.Nice-looking art. Too bad there apparently wasn't a story to back it up.
